Motivation- Why We Can’t Find It!

I have been reading a lot of personal development books lately.  It is one of the ways I challenge myself to be a better person, and continue to strive for my goals in life!  It is so easy to get caught up in, “It’s too hard,” or “I can’t do it.”  That is why it is so important to be growing each and every day!

One of the things that a lot of the books say is that you aren’t going to get this “aha” moment!  I think some of us feel like we have no motivation to live a healthy and fit lifestyle.  We say to ourselves, “If I could only get motivated, then I would start doing it.”

The reason we feel like we have no motivation is because it is true… we don’t have motivation!  You aren’t just going to stumble across motivation one day and everything will change.  You just start losing weight and doing it seamlessly.  You have to create your own motivation and JUST DO IT!

I know this might seem harsh to some of you, but my goals and dreams in life are to help change people’s lives!  This means sometimes having to tell you like it is.  If you are sad or depressed that you aren’t where you want to be in your fitness level, then CHANGE IT!  You have to believe in yourself that you can do it.

You aren’t going to want to do it.  You aren’t going to like it at first.  Everything will be difficult, and I can assure you that you will have PLENTY of excuses.  Let me tell you a secret… everyone has excuses!

I know some of you have had very difficult circumstances that I could never even comprehend.  The trick is to grow and learn from it.  Don’t let those experiences or circumstances hold you back.  There are so many inspiring stories out there about people making the best out of bad situations.  Will you be one of those?  Or will you be the one or sits back and whines about how difficult your life has been?

We all go through experiences in life.  These experiences (no matter how hard) are shaping you into the person that God wants you to be.  We only get one chance at this life, and I am confident that He has AMAZING things in store for you if you follow Him and His will for your life.

So let’s stop making EXCUSES.  Let’s stop waiting until “the right time” when the motivation hits us.  Let’s create our own motivation.  Put on your success gear and get to work!

YOU are the only person that can change your destiny.  No one else can do that for you!

I want to be able to look back on the last 5 years of my life, and be able to say that I lived those years well and doing what God has designed me to do:)  I hope you will be able to feel the same way:)

Motivation Monday {Week 12}

This is one of my favorite quotes!  I need this reminder sometimes when I am working very hard on a specific goal and lose sight of what is important in life.  Healthy living is more than just eating healthy and working out.  For me, it is about a healthy balance in life as well.  Balance in work, faith, eating, exercising, fellowship, and prayer.

These are all important in a healthy life, and I think sometimes we forget about these aspects of life.  It is so important to be peaceful with your life and enjoy the moments in it!

One way I do this is by keeping a gratitude journal.  It helps me realize no matter what I am going through that I have so much to be thankful for.  It helps keep things in perspective for me.  If you struggle sometimes with not being able to enjoy life I hope keep a gratitude journal or an attitude of gratitude helps in your everyday circumstances as well!

It is important to exercise and eat clean, but it is also important to love your life!  Think about the great things in your life and focus on those!!

Motivation Monday {Week 11}

One of my favorite things about summer is that I can workout outside!  It not only is beautiful, but everything you need is right there!

My husband and I have been spending a lot of time on this trail by our house, and we absolutely love it!  We go on bike rides, runs, and walks.  It is great to see so many other people taking care of their health and being active as well.

Just remember that you don’t need a gym to get healthy and get in shape!  There are a lot of workouts you can do that don’t require any equipment.  Here is one of my workouts I do:)

So I challenge you today to go outside and enjoy the nature that God has blessed us with!

Motivation Monday {Week 10}

Push Yourself!

This week I want you to focus on pushing yourself further than you think you can go!

It is so easy to stay on a path that is familiar to us and to not go onto any other paths that might seem challenging.  If we do this though, then we fail to grow ourselves as people.  We need challenges in life to make us into stronger and better people.

I am not saying go out and cause issues, but I am saying to stretch yourself further.  Is there something you have wanted to do but have been too scared to try it?  Maybe it is a difficult workout, running a marathon, or just as simple as wanting to find a different job because you are unhappy in yours.  Whatever it may be, know that you can get through it and push yourself.

You will be surprised at the results when you just try the things you have been afraid to try up until this point.  I am not saying it will be easy or that you will have great results, but at least you are TRYING and pushing yourself further than you thought you could go.

I never thought I would be able to run 40 minutes without stopping.  When I first started running, I could only run for a minute or two before having to stop to walk.  I kept on trying though and pushing myself further.  I eventually got to where I wanted to be, but I will never stop continuing to better myself.  My goal is now trying to improve my times.  I will have some bad days, but then some days I will run further than I ever have in those 40 minutes.

Just don’t stop trying and pushing yourself.  You can do it!

Motivation Monday {Week 9}





Words of Affirmation

For those of you who have read the book, “The Five Love Languages,” by Gary D. Chapman you have heard of this phrase before.  It is basically when you are affirming your spouse of your love and or affection in the form of words.

I want us to start using words of affirmation on ourselves.  We need to start thinking positively about ourselves no matter what the circumstances are!  I feel like so many people are too hard on themselves (I know I am one of these people a lot of the time).  We need to stop thinking negatively about ourselves and press on towards positive thoughts.

God created us in His image, and there are so many reasons why we are here and in this life that He gave us.  We need to stop thinking the thoughts of, “I am so fat,” and “no one will ever like me,” and start thinking we are beautiful and that if someone doesn’t like us it is his/her loss.

There is a big difference between trying to better ourselves and just beating ourselves up over things we are working on.  No one will ever be perfect and that is OKAY!  We aren’t supposed to be or we wouldn’t need Jesus.

So lets make a pact today that we will choose positive thoughts and speak positive words about ourselves.  I think you will be surprised at how life changing thinking positively about yourself can be!

Try writing down 3 positive things about yourself, and keep them close to you.  You can use the graphic and fill it in if you would like:)  When you are feel the “negativity” creep up into your life, then please read these out loud to yourself.  Everyone is amazing, and it makes me sad to think that so many people don’t see that in themselves.
