Have you ever worked out and realized that you weren’t losing the weight you wanted to? Or that the weight loss wasn’t happening as quickly as you would have liked? This is because healthy eating is such an important part of weight loss!
When I first started working out, I craved healthier foods but I wasn’t eating as good as I could have been. I still had pizza and unhealthy snacks throughout the day. I thought that working out and the occasional “eating clean” would be enough to get to the size I wanted to be at. I was totally wrong!!
Weight loss has 80% to do with nutrition and 20% to do with working out and exercising! When I first saw that it blew my mind. I mean it makes sense… nutrition is the key ingredient to feeling better. This means that if you are spending 2 hours at the gym, but then turning around and eating a large pizza with a big can of soda you aren’t doing as much as you think you are! You are pretty much wasting more of your time at the gym.
Nutrition and working out have to align together. This is how you get fit and stay fit! I am not talking about NEVER having a piece or two of pizza, but I am saying that 80% of your eating habits should be whole foods! There still is room for things that are known to be unhealthy, but it cannot be the norm!
I wanted to provide some healthy snacks that would be great to start incorporating into your diet! These are my go to snacks when I need something crunchy or sweet:
1. Cucumbers- You can eat these plain or add some humus! I personally like them plain, but I know this might not be the preference for most people!
2. Cherries- These are a sweet treat when you want something more “candy like,” but they are filled with antioxidants and fiber!
3. Carrots- Again, you can add humus as well!
4. Grapes- These are another sweet treat to have when those sugar cravings start knocking at the door!
5. Bananas- I like to add a little bit of peanut butter to give it some extra flavor!
There are so many more that you could use, but these are just some of my favorites! If “eating clean” or “healthy eating” is difficult for you, remember to stay as close to whole foods as possible. What I mean by whole foods is that it came from the earth and hasn’t been processed much at all. Stick to this diet, and you will be surprised at how quickly your weight loss will begin!
If you would like more information on what specifically to eat check out my blog post about The Best Way To Lose Weight- No Diet Plan Included!
