August Total Body Challenge!

Welcome to August:)

This month I am starting a new challenge!  I have gotten a lot of great feedback from the last 30 Day Fitness by Faith Challenge, so I am going to start another one!

It will be a little different from the last challenge.  I have created an August calendar to print out, so you can follow along!  I will still be posting my Motivation Monday pieces, and my mid-week blog posts on this website.  Therefore, not only are we doing a challenge together, but I can continue to help you through your fitness journey!  Follow along on my Facebook page to interact as we go throughout the next month:)

Fitness by Faith’s Facebook page:

I created three different levels for this challenge since not everyone is at the same fitness level.  Any level you choose to try will be great!  If you are new to fitness, then try the beginner.  Intermediate is if you have been in fitness awhile and would like a challenge, and advanced is for those of you who workout on a regular basis and are ready to take it up a notch!  I will be doing this challenge along with you (I am starting on the advanced challenge).

Don’t get intimidated by the exercises each day.  There are only 2 to do each day, and if you need to, you can do pushups on your knees until you start gaining strength.  I want to challenge you to try them without your knees for as many as you can!  Make sure to keep your butt down in line with your back when doing them.  I see people way too often with their butts in the air!

It is called a total body challenge because it will work your entire body!  I would encourage you to take before and after pictures.  I would love to see the results!

Remember that with any fitness challenge you should make sure to eat clean.  What you put into your body is very important.  You will grow stronger throughout the next month, but if you consciously eat better as well, you could see some significant changes!

I am excited to take this challenge with you!  Please email me at if you have any questions, need any help, or want to know more about the foods that you should be eating to keep your body “clean.”  I absolutely LOVE to hear from you!

Below you will find the beginner, intermediate, and advanced schedules… YOU CAN DO IT!

Let me know how you do!

The Pop Challenge

If you are like me, then you love pop even though you know how bad it is for you.  I didn’t drink it everyday, but I used to drink it more than I should have.  This is one of my downfalls when it comes to my health, so I tried something different this year with the support of my husband.  We are choosing not to have any pop for a whole year… (gasp)!  I have many friends who have tried this in the past with great success.  Most of them still do not drink it to this day.  I am hoping that is what will happen to me.

Water and lemon
Drink water!

Hopefully after a year, I will realize how crappy I felt when drinking this sugary substance.  Since giving up pop, I noticed I have been drinking a lot more water and water with lemon which has been really good for me.  It has only been a month, and I feel so much better than I used to.  I don’t know how pop directly effects you (everyone is different), but it would make me bloated, sick to my stomach, and crave foods that I knew I shouldn’t eat.  If you are reading this thinking that it doesn’t effect you at all, then I would challenge you to keep a food journal and see how you feel after everything you eat and drink.  You will learn a lot from this and possibly even start seeing patterns of how you feel after eating certain foods.  When you become more familiar with the types of foods and drinks your body doesn’t like, it will allow you to cut back on those items or eliminate them from your diet altogether.  I would suggest doing this for 2-3 months to get some good information on your body and how it acts.  Even though Americans drink a lot of pop it does not mean it is healthy to consume.  It should be taken out of your diet or at least consumed much less than it is.

Luckily for us there are other solutions to our sugary soda addictions!  Although I do not own one, I have heard great things about soda stream.  It has so many different flavors you can make with it. It might take you awhile to get used to the different taste (it will not taste exactly like your other pop products like coke, sprite, pepsi, etc.), but it gives you the carbonation feel and similar flavors.

Another great substitution that I personally do drink when I am really craving pop is The Switch.  It is sparkling juice that has two servings of fruit in each can and comes in a variety 24 pack.  I love all the flavors, and there is no added sugar, high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors, sweeteners, or colors. This is a good substitution especially if you still like the “carbonation” feel of the pop.

Remember, if you decide to go pop free for one year, I am in the same boat.  I am here to help if you need anything or just want to discuss how much you miss it.  Besides the taste, there is not much I miss.  I feel better and am less bloated than I used to be which makes me feel happier and healthier!

Cheers to drinking healthier!
