There is no better time than now to start working on those goals that you have pushed off for far too long! A New Year is always a chance to start new:) I am always so excited to see what the year is going to hold. How your year turns out is completely up to you! That is why I wanted to give you 5 Ways to Succeed in Fitness in 2015:) I hope they help keep you motivated on the days when all you want to do is give up!
1. Show up everyday
Make it one of your goals for 2015 to add some movement into every single day. You don’t have to work out for 60 minutes a day in order to see improved fitness levels. Take a step each day and build on the previous ones. Start small and you will be more likely to stick with it! Eventually you will get to where you want to be if you don’t stop!
2. Set yourself up for success
Buy healthy foods instead of the processed foods you are used to eating. If you don’t have it in the house, then you are less likely to eat it!
3. Keep it simple
Eating healthy foods and working out doesn’t have to be difficult or complex. Just keep it simple. One of my favorite go-to healthy meals is chicken and veggies. You can even add a simple salad. You are eating healthy without spending hours on finding a healthy recipe, going to the store, and making it. In order to stick with a goal, it needs to be easy. Make it as easy as you can. Another idea is creating some healthy meals on Sunday that you can eat throughout the week. Make sure you aren’t making anything too difficult.
4. Get rid of the word “CAN’T”
I know that most of us live crazy busy lives. I am not trying to ignore the fact that our society goes at a fast pace. Even though we all feel like we don’t have another second in our days, we need to get away from the word, “can’t.” You can do anything you set your mind to. Even if you are the busiest person on the planet, you have time to work out and eat healthy each day. It might look like someone else’s workout, but you can be creative. We have gotten so used to excuses that we need to stop! I like the saying, “If something is important to you, then you will make time for it.” This is the same way with working out. I know you might not want to, but it is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. It should be at the top of your priority list every day.
Think of it this way: If you don’t make the time to eat healthy and workout now, then you will most likely spend a lot of time in your life being sick. You might not see the symptoms now, but your bad habits will catch up with you.
5. Do something you love
Everyone is different, and the same is true about your workout style. If you are new to working out, then try a lot of different types of “workouts” until you find one you love! I personally like a mixture, so I don’t get bored; however, I know a lot of people who strictly are yoga oriented or like HIIT workouts. Find what works for you, and stick with it! You will be more likely to want to work out if you find something you love.
All these ideas will help keep you on track to meet your goals for the year. Remember that fitness is NOT a destination… it is a way of life. So let’s start making a healthier life together!
